Who Does She Think She Is, Anyway?
Although her given name is Michelle Grayum, this blogger writes from the voice of her alter ego. Well, except for the fact that she got a kick out of writing the majority of her About Finding My Float and About Imgy pages in the third-person (wink, wink). Or, would that actually be the fourth- or fifth-person at this point? (yeah, she also thinks she’s pretty funny sometimes — sorry about that.)
You Can Call Her “Imgy”
Aside from being a playful spelling of the pronunciation of her initials (mg), Imgy is also an acronym for “Into My Greatest Years.” And because she can’t stop there and has to take it one step further, her alter nickname has an alter full name. “Imogen Luca” is her George Eliot / Bob Dylan / Sasha Fierce / Ziggy Stardust self (or as she likes to think of it) her bolder, freer self. If you don’t who all those people are, you know how to use google.
An Artist at Heart
The blogger behind the keyboard of “Finding My Float” is an artist, a designer, a creative, a maker … and apparently she thinks she’s a writer now, too! Living in the South (where a dusting of snow can close school for days), she shares a little, ranch house on a big, happy yard just past the southwest edge of Nashville, Tennessee with 3 dapper dudes:
- Her art hero and husband whom she likes to call “Captain Curl”
- Their cleverly creative son who is handsome from the inside out
- And, one savagely sweet 5-way mixed-breed rescue pup.
About Captain Curl…
Captain Curl, aka “The Hubs” is an artist and designer, too. He taught himself guitar. He writes fiction for fun. You get the idea. As partners in marriage, family and business, they’ve been accused of being attached at the hip. They actually detach just like a set of magnetic salt and pepper shakers. They’ve even been spotted in dual locations simultaneously! He is a major support in her life though, and she likes giving him the cred he deserves.
But Back to Her…
Definitely an art lover who adores great stories, she’s drawn to big ideas, deep quotes, self-development books and TEDx Talks. Captivated by her curiosities, her interest-driven brain loves learning. She finds fascination in the overlap between ADHD, creativity, mental health & wellness.
She also loves binge-watching favorite TV shows cuddled on the couch with loved ones & blankets. And she’s rather fond of anything sparkly, front porches, bridges, dolphins, well — anything beach-related, all things turquoise, rain when it’s sunny out (hello, … rainbows!), flowers, mac & cheese, good music, hot air balloons, umbrellas, sunsets and sushi.
Won’t You Come Along for the Ride?
She hopes so. Feel free to reach out by email or leave a comment, anytime. You can connect with her on social media, too — mostly Instagram, but occasionally Twitter, Facebook or Pinterest as well. If you like something you read here, please let her know by clicking so. And, subscribe to make sure you don’t miss out!
